Keeping Up With Kerry - Jubilee Edition

A round up of news…………. from football, the Jubilee and Cost of Living

As you all know this year marks the 70th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation. What a service she has given to our country and the commonwealth over this time, her commitment and longevity to the job is truly inspirational and something we can only aspire to achieve in our life and careers. In true DBC style we can’t wait to be celebrating with our own DBC Street Party…any excuse for some cake! I’m looking forward to taking my youngest son to a few of the offices to sample the cakes and the biscuits that I personally made for all the team in my spare time 😊.

The thought of spending 70 years in any job is mind boggling to me. This year marks our 22nd year in business and it got off to a great start with our Ofsted Good inspection, Leaders in Safeguarding accreditation, introduction of some exciting new apprenticeship standards and new contract wins. We continue to grow our team and go from strength to strength as a business, with ambitious plans for growth in the future – and for some perspective that’s another 48 years until our own 70th celebration!! Fingers crossed I wont still be heading up DBC in another 48 years! But you never know, the Queen is still working at nearly 100.

For those of you that are football fans in our regions, what an exciting, nail biting few weeks it has been. Congratulations to Nottingham Forest on their promotion to the Premiership, regardless of your football alliances this is great news for Nottingham as a City. Commiserations to Chesterfield, what a season you have had also coming so close to promotion. And of course, commiserations to Liverpool ☹ …as a City fan, what a great end to the season, possibly the most exciting title race ever. I won’t mention the other Manchester team…

We’re all aware of the current cost of living crisis that is impacting so many individuals and families at this time and we’re fortunate enough in our sector to help make a difference by supporting people into work and onto better careers. As a business we chose to review our own employee benefits package as part of our staff company conference in September and through regular Air Time talks with all the staff, including our new employee voice forum. Whilst we’ve made great progress in this area (I know we all love the early Friday finish), we can always strive to do more, and I’m incredibly proud that this year more than ever, we’ve been able to introduce additional benefits to our staff to help them manage rising costs, including Westfield, additional holidays and a cost of living pay rise. If you are looking for your next career why not come and join a growing business with a multiple award-winning team - https://www.dbc-training.co.uk/vacancies

I hope you all enjoy the Jubilee celebrations and long Bank Holiday weekend ahead!
