Lead Learner Engagement Officer

Reporting to: Senior Business Manager

Location: East Midlands

To support the Business Managers to achieve their centre outcomes by sourcing, engaging and recruiting a wide range of learner referrals. Establishing and undertaking robust stakeholder and community engagement activity leading to positive ongoing relationships that result in starts to DBC’s programmes and positive learner impact.

Being an ambassador, promoting DBC and the existing services delivered to fill our employability programmes, creating for learners their gateway to progress.


To be a key lead, influencing future delivery using intelligence sourced through the Learner Engagement Teams stakeholder networks. Supporting new and growth delivery solutions for a fit for the future offer on behalf of DBC’s learners and our centres.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mentor of the Learner Engagement Team members leading to personal growth and contract achievement

  • Collation and ongoing monitoring and update of the learner engagement contacts on DBC’s stakeholder plan

  • Coordinate with the Business Managers the Skills Plans for the regional and local areas to ensure representation and active attendance at referral networking opportunities  

  • Positive promotion of DBC services to all relevant stakeholders 

  • Work with Business Managers to ensure that all Learner Engagement planned interview’s with potential learners are conducted timely

  • Update and lead learner and stakeholder data systems to enable analytic tracking and reporting  

  • Maintain regular contact with learners and local stakeholders 

  • Achieve monthly start, placement and progression targets as per delivery profiles 

  • Support learners to secure work experience placements and manage customer attendance on work placements. 

  • Conduct and oversee work placement risk assessment where appropriate

  • Attendance or ensure presence with Business Managers at all relevant networking meetings 

  • Accurate completion of recruitment paper work as the initial part of the funding administration process 

  • Liaise and communicate with other team members to ensure learner progress 

  • Registering new learners, managing online advertising, and updating the vacancy management system 

  • Development/maintenance of relationship with employers to ensure learner progress 

  • Act as the local Safeguarding Representative, ensure company procedures are adhered to 

  • Any other duties as required by the SMT and line manager 


Experience and Skills:

  • Safeguarding Level 2 training (desirable)  

  • Expert communicator both written and verbally 

  • Passionate about people 

  • Sensitive to the needs of learners, young people and vulnerable members of society 

  • Ability to travel around East Midlands 

  • Professional demeanor to represent our client and the national programme in the best light 

  • Self-motivated and able to work without supervision 

  • Resilient and able to seek new business opportunities 

  • Organised and punctual 

  • Able to work as an integral team member 

  • Able to deliver work at a high standard 

  • IOSH (desirable) 

  • IAG Level 3 qualification
