Kickstart is a new £2 billion Government scheme that is creating thousands of Government-funded 6-month job placements to help young people into work and support the UK's economic recovery.

Funding is available for:

  • 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week

  • Associated employer National Insurance contributions

  • Employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions

  • £1,500 per job placement for setup costs, support and training.

As an employer, Kickstart will give you access to a large pool of motivated young people, who are ready for an opportunity, at no cost.  DBC has launched a package of support to help businesses of all sizes to access Kickstart. This includes support with on-boarding new starters and on-placement support to help deliver impactful outcomes for your business and young people.

Kickstart is not an apprenticeship, but participants may move on to an apprenticeship at any time during, or after their job placement. You can find out more about what apprenticeships can offer your business here

Your Kickstart Gateway Partner

DBC can act on your behalf and apply for a Kickstart Scheme grant for you, regardless of how many job placements you can offer.

We will:

  • work with you to identify roles to meet your business needs

  • gather information from you about the job placements you’d like to offer

  • use this information to submit a fully compliant online application

  • pass on the relevant payments made by DWP to you (for example the young person’s salary)

We will also:

  • work with you to create a tailored package of support to meet this requirement

  • share our expertise with you to help you onboard and train young people employed through the scheme

  • provide employability support and training directly to young people employed through the scheme

  • support with post-placement progression opportunities, e.g. an apprenticeship or permanent employment
