Improvement Technician

APPRENTICESHIP

LEVEL 3
 IMPROVEMENT TECHNICIAN

Start date: Flexible

Typical duration: 18 Months

Improvement Technicians are responsible for the delivery and coaching of improvement processes within an area of responsibility, often associated with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. They help organisations to form and maintain a culture of continuous improvement, and deliver financial benefits through revenue improvement, cost reductions and cost avoidance.

‘Lean Six Sigma’ is powerful combination of the ‘Lean’ and ‘Six Sigma’ methodologies. ‘Lean’ has a focus on eliminating process waste, increasing process speed and minimising lead times. ‘Six Sigma’ has a focus on eliminating process defects and process variation. The principles are applicable to both the manufacturing and service sectors. Typically, Technicians work as a member of an operational team to resolve problems - preventing re-occurrence, engaging others in issues affecting them and to support the improvement of performance.
