About this role

To plan, prepare and teach CSCS units and level 1 and 2 employability programmes to a variety of learners aged 16+. Supporting and developing learners to gain qualifications and experience that will enhance their further education and/or career prospects and support them into work.

What is needed for this role?

Role and responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver CSCS and Employability sessions up to Level 2 in a classroom environment
  • To prepare and review session plans, schemes of work and teaching and learning materials using initial assessments and marked work to take into account the learners individual needs
  • To improve learners experience through development of teaching methods and strategies
  • Embed Equality and Diversity in the curriculum
  • Prepare learners for examinations to gain the appropriate qualifications
  • Continually monitor and review learners’ progress and support through tutorials
  • Assist in the writing, design and development of curriculum through planning time and standardisation meetings
  • Monitor attendance, punctuality and progress
  • To consistently deliver a ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ standard of teaching and learning
  • Accurately complete all relevant paperwork in line with DBC Training’s procedures and awarding bodies
  • Offer IAG on further learning and progression opportunities
  • To promote DBC Training’s courses to potential candidates and employers
  • Progress candidates into work, Traineeships, Apprenticeships or into further education
  • Assist in meeting company targets, retention, progression and achievement of all learners
  • Take part in evaluating the company’s provision for the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) against the Common Inspection Framework criteria
  • Promote and comply with DBC Training’s policies and procedures
  • Act on feedback from observations from teaching and learning and internal and external verifying visits
  • Undertake necessary training to professionally develop and keep abreast with current practices and legislation within the sector
  • Attend meetings as required
  • Undertake any other routine task, as required by senior staff
Skills and experience
  • Hold or willing to work towards a teaching qualification PTTLS or equivalent
  • Hold or willing to work towards an assessing qualification
  • Hold or willing to work toward an Understanding Domestic Retrofit qualification
  • Experience and qualifications within the construction industry
  • Ability to deliver engaging and inspiring sessions to learners of different levels
