April 2019 marks the 2-year anniversary of the Apprenticeship Levy - a game changer in the world of apprenticeships. Since the Levy's inception, businesses have clearly had to adapt to the increased needs of their staff and now have a platform to deliver skills. However, we find ourselves consistently talking to businesses who are still massively underutilising or not using their Levy.
Post April 2019, accumulated funds in employer's Digital Accounts will be lost and used by the SME market to support their skills drive. The term "Use it or lose it" has been used frequently to describe!
Research shows that only 8% (£108m) of accumulated levy funds have been utilised by businesses to date, meaning that as of April 2019, we will see a dramatic loss in funds amounting to £139m per month, unless used or transferred to supply chain.
Daniel Raines, Head of Corporate Levy at DBC Training noted;
"As we approach the end of what has been a monumental 2 years of the Apprenticeship Levy, we still see businesses struggling to understand how best to spend their funds, it is clear that businesses need to work closely with strategic partners to identify ways in which to effectively maximise the levy and seek a return on their investment."
